![]() 2008 Program Announcement and Application Procedure Last updated January 4, 2008 TO: All science students including psychology and geography Ohio Wesleyan University will announce in the near future the opportunity for a limited number of OWU students to spend ten weeks working on a research project on campus with a faculty sponsor. Brief descriptions of the projects are given below and if you are interested in applying you are strongly encourage you to discuss your interest with the project mentor who will be a part of the evaluation process. The typical summer experience begins immediately after graduation and ends in mid July and includes a $3,200 stipend and free housing. A research paper, poster presentation and/or oral presentation at a symposium describing the research is required and the final $500 installment of the stipend is dependent upon completing this requirement. QUALIFICATIONS: Preference is given to current sophomores and juniors and those who have not previously participated in a summer research program at OWU. Each project has additional specific course/experience qualifications and students should check with the faculty mentor about these qualifications prior to submitting their applications. Rarely are students with a GPA below 3.0 placed in this program. APPLICATION PROCESS: A completed application is required along with an "unofficial" transcript and two letters of recommendation. Applications can be downloaded from the SSRP Web site. Completed applications should be sent as an E-mail attachment (Word document) to clstinem@owu.edu by 15 February 2008. OTHER DEADLINES: Notification of your acceptance in the program (first round) will be sent prior to spring break. Your acceptance of an offer must be received by 17 March 2008. Alternative selections (if necessary) will be sent after 24 March 2008.
